Hi all,

Hope everyone's having a good September thus far! It's been flying by... Most things have been going smoothly as I transition to my new school, but other things are still taking a while to finalize. Anyways, I'm feeling very motivated to be back in art classes and can't wait to share some things with you guys (some of which I've been holding onto for almost a year... Crazy.) Once I get the green light, they'll be up. October's going to be crazy (in a good way), but I'll try to get some things uploaded before the madness sets in. I know I say I'll be uploading more often all the time, but you wouldn't believe the comical level of stuff that gets in the way. But I'm trying!

Until next time,

Hi all,

This Summer has been flying by! I've done a lot of traveling and have been spending a lot of my energy on prepping a portfolio and transferring universities. And I managed to get a few good hikes in there as well :)

Anyways, I'm going to be cleaning up my deviantART page (and my online presence as a whole,) so quite a few things will be removed/updated in the next few weeks before my fall semester starts. I won't make the updates on deviations appear in watch feeds to avoid spamming you guys with what will most likely be minor things. As for new uploads, I still have to wait until my portfolio is reviewed to publicly post some of the things I've been working on recently. I am, however, going to be setting up a photo shoot for some of my bigger pieces that I cannot scan in the near future.

It's been a fun and hectic summer, and I'm looking forward to the fall!

Until next time,

Hi all,

I can't believe the amount of favorites on my new Marceline piece... Thank you all so much! I'm currently working on a few more things for the palette challenge, as well as more vector art. Also, another quick thank you for getting my Facebook art page to over 100 likes!! I still can't get over that!

As the title states, summer commissions are open again! I'm offering both digital and traditional sketch cards, portraits, illustrations, and photo restoration/editing. For more information or to request a commission, you can e-mail me directly at sarajclement@gmail.com or check out my Commissions Page from my art blog here: sarajclement.tumblr.com/commis…

I want to try to keep them going mostly year-round, but I'll make that call once the fall semester starts again. I've been going through a lot transferring universities, but I believe things will be settled soon and I can still have time for commission work.

Until next time,

Hi all,

Now that the Spring Semester is oming to an end, I will finally be able to upload some of my course work from this year. I need to take some photographs of bigger pieces, but they should be up within the next month. I've also found myself with some time to work on personal drawings and experiment a bit more with color. I have a ton of sketches to scan/upload, so I'll probably do more "doodle dump" style uploads in the future. I'm working through the transferring process at the moment, but I'm still planning on re-opening commissions (with PayPal!) sometime in June.

Oh, and I also worked on a digital piece for :iconrin-uzuki:'s Bubbline Anthology, which should be printed soon! [rin-uzuki.deviantart.com/journ…

Hello all,

Lots of new things to come soon, including some collaborations with the lovely Vivstarr! You can check her out on facebook (www.facebook.com/VIVSTARR) and tumblr (vivstarr-vampgoddess.tumblr.co…). I've been working on putting together a portfolio for transferring colleges and keeping up with my current courses, so there hasn't been much time for me to upload recently. But I'm still working hard! ;)

'Til next time,

Hello lovelies,

I've decided to make a new Twitter account and will hopefully have better security this time... It was a nightmare trying to deactivate my last one. Anyways, come follow me! @SaraJClement

My break is almost over and I have much work to do within the next week. I've scanned a bunch of new things and started editing them, moving on to final clean-ups today. I've also put about 7hrs into a new digital piece for a fan doujinshi, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to post the final product. It will *hopefully* be printed within the next few months, so I'll keep you all updated on that. I've also gotten around to finishing up some very old comissions for dear friends of mine... Deadlines have never been my friend, but I think I've improving. Somewhat.
I'll also be heading to the studio tomorrow to scan some of my bigger pieces from class, but I may have to wait 'til Spring to photograph some of the larger ones. Oh and speaking of Spring, that's when I'm planning to finally get a premium account. Hopefully. So I can change my user name. And do other radical things.

Ok, enough rambling, time to get to work! Haha.
(And by work I mean watch more Game of Thrones and procrastinate... Oi.)

'Til next time,

January is going to be a very busy month!

I will be tackling a long-term personal project of organizing/archiving all of my loose sketches from the past 4-5 years. I made a huge chunk of process over the summer by scanning and digitally archiving all of my sketches until 2012, but now I have to scan everything from 2013. I've also purchased hardcover sketchbooks that I will be using to organize and store all of my loose sketches by year. This should be fun. (Going through old works and organizing them definitely will be... But rubber cement hands? No thanks.)

I have the whole month of January off before heading back to school and I'm dedicating all of my time towards this on-going project and preparing my portfolio. (And hopefully working on some new things, if I have time.)

Before I wrap this up, I just want to say a huge thank you to all of my new watchers/followers and wonderful new friends this past year, and everyone else who has continued to support me and my studies with art. It truly means the world to me. 2013 had it's ups and downs, but I wouldn't want to change a second of it. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2014!

(Now, it's time to roll up my sleeves and get to work!)

Hello Lovely Watchers,

It's my personal favorite time of year again, lovely Winter!
I had a very wonderful Christmas with my family this year and hope the same goes to you as well if you celebrate it! (Or a Happy Chanukah, Kwanza, Yule... the list goes on!)

I have quite a bit of time before my Spring semester begins, so I will (hopefully) be somewhat productive and get some things scanned/photographed and uploaded. I'll also be working on some new full pieces in preparation for a transfer portfolio interview, so that should be fun! (And the application, and organizing my sketchbooks... Lots of work but fun non-the-less!)

Wishing you all warmth and health for the New Year,

SJ Clement | TZ'13

Hello Lovely Watchers,

One of the best gifts I could receive this Christmas is also one of the easiest for you all to give...

Every last bit of support for me/my art really helps, so if everyone could take a few seconds to like/share/re-blog/re-pin my art and art pages through the various forms of social media would be a blessing... Even just a simple "like" on facebook would really brighten up my winter break!

PS- Lots of new art up very soon!
Hi All,

My Twitter account was hacked several times within the past few weeks and after changing passwords three times, I've decided to deactivate it. I apologize for any spam my account sent out to you guys. If/when I create a new account, I'll be sure to link you guys to it!

Until then, be sure to "like" my art page on Facebook for the quickest updates or follow my art blog on Tumblr!

Stay awesome,

Hello again,

I've been very inactive recently (in terms of uploading new content) but I have several pieces waiting in the wings... I've just been very busy working on building a new portfolio to transfer schools next fall.
There will be new works posted soon, so hold on tight!

Thank you all again for your support!

Hi all,

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you all for the INCREDIBLE amount of support on my newest digital piece, "Journey." (I honestly didn't think anyone would like it... Thank you for proving me wrong!)
It has also become my most successful post on Tumblr, just breaking 500 notes as of today! It was even featured under the "Gaming" tag, which was really awesome! (I'm giddier than I should be... Hehe)

To my new and old watchers alike, I just want to give you all some quick updates:
-I am now on Newgrounds, and I'll post the link at the bottom of this journal! (I will probably only be posting new digital pieces on there, not my old stuff.)
-I will be continuing to practice with Photoshop and hopefully finish a new piece rather soon. I've scrapped some old digital projects but have turned my attention to learning new techniques and applying what I already know from my traditional art practices.
-I've been writing much more frequently and will (hopefully) be able to type some things up to get your feedback!
-I've already submitted several pieces for my two art college classes and I will take pictures once I get them back!

Thanks again for everything, guys... Your support means more than you could possibly ever know.

Stay awesome,
SJ Clement

Hello again,

Classes officially started yesterday, but I had my first drawing class today! My Professor is a sweetheart! I can't wait to have class again on Monday. Though it is very basic, it's nice to get some down-n-dirty technical practice to refresh and re-train in any areas that I was beginning to fumble a little. And it's very motivating! I also have a color/design theory class starting next week that will also help to re-enforce the things I've learned in high school and on my own up until now. It's just wonderful to have a huge studio to work in... I'm dreading making my first supply run in NYC. (Bye-bye, food money.)

The rest of my classes have been going well, especially writing. Even my business and math courses are very interesting. I haven't been hit with too many big textbook expenses either, which was a great relief (at least for this semester.)

Things are going pretty well :)

New drawings are also up on the Facebook page: www.facebook.com/SJClementART

Stay awesome!

Hi again,

First thing's first: I want to thank each and every one of you for your support! Every favorite, comment, message, reblog, and "like" really add up! Thank you, thank you, thank you all for being here for me and helping to keep me going!

Now then, onto the updating.
Well, it's been a pretty hectic week!
I officially moved into my NYC dorm yesterday and begin classes next week! (I even got to meet the roomies, three nice girls and a lovely little cockroach!)
I've already begun a lot of new practice sketches/studies, so expect to see some of those when I gain access to a scanner.
Things are looking pretty good right about now.

Be sure to check out my new Facebook page for more frequent updates and exclusive sketchbook pages!

Hello Lovelies,

I've spent a rather large amount of time (that should have been used sleeping) to update/create new social media profiles. I typically add new works here first, but I don't post everything. To make sure you see all of my latest drawings, literature, and photography, make sure you check out the links below!

More to come soon,

Hello again all,

I've been terribly busy (it doesn't feel like Summer at all!) and have been a little neglectful of my art, which is something I NEVER want to do. I'm going to stop letting my fusses take control of my time and actually get some more projects rolling, ok? Ok.

I've been rather busy with Summer work and preparations for my big move to the city and I've been falling behind on scanning/new drawings. But after feeling the great pangs of jealousy at friends and fellow student's continued progression, I have gained new motivation to create. (I always have a need to create, but a need to share? Not so much, until now.)

Expect to see some slow progress, at least until the fall when I should be in full-swing again.

Ta-ta for now,
SJ Clement
Hi all,

Just a quick little blurb about how the summer's been treating me thus far... I've been very busy, either with work/college preparation and friends, and time's been flying by. I've been doodling a little here and there, but mainly going out with a few close friends and playing the role of a nomad while I still can! Haha.

I've been getting some digital painting practice in (fun yet frustrating) and have recently started learning about creating line art using the pen tool in Photoshop (a skill I've been putting off for quite some time.) The final results are generally clean and gorgeous, but it's a rough and slow process for me right now. A lot of trial and error, and tedious repetition. That being said, if anyone has experience with using the pen tool/creating line art in Photoshop, feel free to drop any tips/advice my way! Thanks.

I've been working a digital portrait of Ellie from "The Last of Us" so stay tuned for that. (And go play it if you haven't already. No PS3? Find a friend with one. No friends? Find a walk-through on YouTube, haha.)

'Til next time,
-Sara
Bring on the parasols! :sun:

Hello everyone,
Finals are finally finished, and I'm free from high school!
I now have some time to work on digital practice, scanning/compiling sketch dumps, and preserving/storing all of my drawings before I head off to college.
I'll be living in the big city as a dual Studio Art and English Literature major, and I couldn't be more excited! Now, what else has been going on...
-Work has been coming in more regularly and I should be able to afford a laptop soon.
-I might also get my license soon! (If not, oh well. I'll be in the city and can take public transportation. Or walk.)
-I have an audition for my local RHPS shadowcast next month, so wish me luck!
-I learned how to ride a bike yesterday! (Yes, I haven't learned over the past 17 years because... Well, I don't know. It was very fun!)

Things are definitely on the bright side for me, and I hope the same goes for all of you!
Thank you guys for all of your positive feedback and support, I promise to be uploading new things much more frequently now that my schedule has cleared up!

Stay awesome,
Sara
Hell-o again,

June is going to be a very, very busy month. I only have one final to worry about for next week, Pre-Calculus, and it's honestly scaring the crap outta me! But it will be ok.
We had a nice Senior Breakfast last week and I won two awards, one for English Literature and one for Creative Writing.
Oh, and I'm trying out for my local RHPS shadow-cast next month. Yay!

Onto real announcements!
-My film shoot was ruined, completely fogged beyond recognition so I'll have to re-shoot within the week. (Ugh. I've been spoiled with digital.)
-Sketch-dumps are moving slowly but they're moving... I haven't stopped working on them, there's just A LOT to scan/clean up in Photoshop and I'd rather have everything backed-up on my computer before making another collage. And I'm also fixing each with a matte finish afterwards before moving them to temporary storage, so that's been padding out the time.
-Digital work: I've currently started working on compiling a digital sketch-dump for all my little doodles/practices, but there aren't enough for a full dump yet. I've also started a Mars Attacks! piece and I'm still working on cleaning up/re-coloring some old pieces from when I was a Sophomore/Junior. I should be uploading the grey-tones to "Poison" soon.

As for other projects, I have an idea for a series of pieces but I really want them to be well-done, so I'm planning on waiting a little longer and spending some more time on the initial batch. They're a little... funnier, I guess, than what I already have in my gallery, but I think you'll all enjoy them!

I have a lot of pieces I've been sketching and want to flesh out, but I think I might focus more on anatomy and technical practices. At least for a little longer, before moving further into digital painting or final traditional pieces. We'll see :x

-Sara
